The Army Painter Presents:
Unlocking Speed Paints: Mastering the Slapchop Method with Caleb Wissenback

Are your transparent speed paints not living up to the hype? Do you find your models looking flat or splotchy? This class is designed to teach you the "Slapchop" method, a revolutionary technique that will help you get the most out of your transparent, high-contrast paints and achieve stunning results with incredible efficiency.
The Slapchop method is all about the prep work. Instead of applying paint to a flat-primed surface, you will learn to create a detailed black-and-white value sketch directly on your miniature. This grisaille underpainting provides the perfect foundation, allowing a single layer of transparent paint to create instant depth, shading, and highlights.
In this course, we will cover:
  • The Grisaille Undercoat: Master the core of the Slapchop technique. Learn how to properly prime your miniature black and use progressive dry brushing with grey and white to pre-shade the model, establishing dramatic highlights and shadows before any color is applied.
  • Effective Transparent Paint Application: Discover the right way to apply your speed or contrast paints over the undercoat. We'll explore how the paint interacts with the pre-shaded surface to do all the hard work for you, creating natural-looking volume and definition with one simple step.
  • Refining the Results: Learn how to troubleshoot common issues and apply final touches to make your miniatures truly pop, elevating them beyond a basic paint job.
Stop fighting with your speed paints and start making them work for you. This class will equip you with a fast, fun, and highly effective technique to paint your armies to a fantastic standard in a fraction of the time.
